Being Nice Kills Growth

If you want to become a millionaire, marry one (lol).  But seriously, if you want to build your own wealth, there are some important things you need to know.  We shared earlier that being emphatic is your green card, but that decisions need to be made with the mind. If you want wealth and freedom, you need to get the emotion out of the money.

What most wealthy and influental people have in common is the “Dark Triad”. It’s a darker side of human behaviour that results in direct financial successes but at the cost of mental disbalance and losing sight of reality and feelings. It’s a choice that needs to be made, once you cross the borders of dark psychology, you will never be the same.  “Dark Triad” refers to three personality traits often found in billionaires—Machiavellianism, narcissism, and psychopathy. Machiavellianism involves being strategic and sometimes manipulative to achieve your goals. Narcissism is having a strong sense of self-importance and entitlement. Psychopathy is about lacking empathy and being able to make tough decisions without feeling guilt.

However be cautious using the practices on people to gain succes, but what it does teach us, is that you need to adjust your mindset and understand that  being overly nice won’t get you there. No billionaire is a super sweetheart. Sure, kindness and empathy are important, but there are essential traits you must develop to succeed. Research have shown that it is important that you set the tone early that you are just up for business, and however respectful, it is your solely interest. Don’t share personal stuff, doubts and don’t act like a therapist if you are not one. Make it clear from the beginning that while you are kind, you are not a pushover. This prevents people from taking advantage of you and allows you to stay focused on your goals.

Next, you need to focus solely on your goals. Success demands relentless focus on your objectives. You might be perceived egoistic, but no one will get the job done. This sometimes means creating distance between yourself and others to avoid emotional attachments that can cloud your judgment.

It is said that if you want to succeed, you need to be authentic and not afraid to be honest. It is not rudeness, you are being direct. Sometimes, being too agreeable can hinder your progress. The wealthy often have lower levels of agreeableness, meaning they are willing to make tough decisions and stand their ground. Imagine negotiating with a used car salesman—you can’t always be the nice guy, or you’ll drive off in a lemon.

Staying calm under pressure is another vital trait. Wealthy individuals tend to handle stress well, maintaining composure in high-pressure situations, which is essential for making sound decisions. No matter how difficult life gets, you can’t show your struggle to the outside world, untill you made it.

Developing key traits like conscientiousness, openness to experience, and extraversion are also crucial. Be responsible and detail-oriented, open to new opportunities, and adept at networking to build valuable connections. Don’t be afraid to ask. You will need people to build.

Balancing your heart and head is key. Use your heart to manage relationships, but make decisions with your head. This balance allows for rational, profit-driven choices while still maintaining essential human connections. Successful business leaders know when to detach emotions from financial decisions. This objectivity is crucial for making rational choices that benefit their business
